Our Purpose

We exist to preserve and promote Afghan culture; to widen access to education for youth, students, and newcomers; and to provide principled, needs-based support to vulnerable families. We pursue these ends because cultural continuity strengthens identity, education expands opportunity, and dignified assistance helps communities stand on their feet.

Sayed Nadir Shah Al-Hussaini Kayani—widely known as Sayed Kayan—was a poet, philosopher, and community leader who bridged scholarship and service. His poetry and writings emphasized knowledge, compassion, and unity, while his leadership promoted dialogue and coexistence among diverse communities. For many Afghans, Sayed Kayan remains a symbol of intellectual courage and spiritual depth.

The Sayed Kayan Association (SKA) continues this legacy by advancing education, celebrating Afghan arts and literature, and fostering inclusive spaces for learning and connection. Through public programs, publications, mentoring, and partnerships, SKA carries forward Sayed Kayan’s message: culture as a bridge to understanding and dignity for every person.
