About Us

Sayed Kayan Association (SKA)—formally registered as the Sayed Nadir Shah Al-Hussaini Cultural and Social Association—is a Canadian non-profit dedicated to public benefit. Founded in Toronto by educators, cultural advocates, and community leaders, SKA began formal operations in 2023 after obtaining registration from the Government of Canada.

We exist to advance knowledge and appreciation of Afghan culture, language, history, and the arts; to expand educational opportunity for youth and students; and to provide dignified support to vulnerable individuals where need is greatest. Our programs primarily serve communities in Canada and the Afghan diaspora across North America, Europe, and Australia, with targeted humanitarian and education-linked aid to vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.

Guided by principled governance and transparent stewardship, SKA designs initiatives that deliver measurable public benefit. We build partnerships with schools, libraries, universities, museums, settlement agencies, and cultural institutions. Volunteers—mentors, teachers, researchers, artists, organizers—are central to our mission.

What we do

  • Targeted relief tied to education: school supplies and essential support delivered through vetted partners
  • Cultural education and public programming: lectures, workshops, language classes, exhibitions, and festivals
  • Libraries and knowledge access: digital and physical collections, archives, and publications
  • Student and youth support: tutoring, mentoring, scholarships (subject to funds), and leadership development
  • Community integration: newcomer orientation, language support, and civic participation
